Linehaul Console - Manage Subcontractor Trailers
v20.13, JF-1251
Overview
Originally Trailer Loads were only supported by linked to a Co. Fleet Trailer record. Significant new functionality has been introduced to incorporate subcontractor trailers to be built and planned through the Planning Pad, as well as confirmation and depart/arrive management of subcontractor prime movers and trailers through Linehaul Console. The main change has been to allow a custom text value (relating to the subbie trailer registration or fleet number) to be entered where the company fleet would normally be selected.
Creating a Subcontractor Trailer Load (Manual Form)
JAIX Freight > Distribution > Linehaul Manifests (Add/Edit/View)
Creating and/or editing a trailer load through the open trailer load form remains the same, except that when the trailer/s are selected, the user will manually enter the custom text value of the trailer in the trailer field (shown below).
This entered value will show throughout the same trailer load and manifesting process, with the field and location of the trailer for the load behaving in the same manner. These values will need to be entered in for any trailer load that is created, and will not show from the drop down for future use (as is the functionality with company trailers already in the system).
Creating a Subcontractor Trailer Load (Planning Pad)
JAIX Freight > Distribution > Linehaul (Load Planning) > (Add TL Planning)
As with the entry of the subcontractor trailer/s in the open trailer load form, when creating a load through the Planning Pad, a custom text value of the subcontractor trailer will be entered in the same trailer fields (shown below).
In the screenshot below, the created trailer load (BR52) is already showing in the LHC with the subcontractor trailer assigned.
Locations Displaying the Subcontractor Trailer
There are several areas in the system whereby the selected trailer for the trailer load is displayed. The task has ensured that all of the following reflect the inclusion of a custom trailer.
- Trailer Load > Search & List
- Planning Pad > Trailer Loads List
- LHC > Main Grid
- LHC > Trip Summary Panel
- Allocations Screen > Unshipped Planning Grid
- Relevant Forms (Eg. Printed Manifest, Load Plan)
Creating the Manifest for the Trailer Load (on a Subcontractor Trailer)
As subcontractor prime movers are not listed in the Available Fleet grid of the LHC, a linehaul manifest will need to be created manually (as is the current process for Tow-Operators). Right-mouse click on the outbound manifest section of the trailer load in LHC and select 'Create New', or alternately create a new linehaul manifest from the top ribbon and add the trailer load.
With the introduction of this task, if a subcontractor is selected as the linehaul resource for the manifest, the trailer loads grid will show on the form to allow entry of trailer load that is on a subcontractor trailer (shown below);
A trailer that is already assigned to a company trailer cannot be selected for a subcontractor, only a tow-operator (in line with existing functionality). Complete the manifest details and save, the details of which will be updated on the LHC like a standard company/tow-operator fleet manifest.
This trailer load and manifest can be confirmed and departed, and then arrived at the receiving depot in the normal manner (in the example below, trailer load BR52, loaded on and being towed by a subcontractor is showing as inbound to Gatton). The system will only allow the confirmation of a trailer load with custom value trailer if the carrier for the manifest is a subcontractor. If the carrier is a company truck or tow-operator, the standard rules apply whereby only a trailer that is in existing in the fleet list will be accepted.
