JAIX WMS - Managing Handling Unit Types
Setting Up Handling Unit Types
Tools > System Setup > Global – General > Handling Unit Types
Chep, Loscam and Warehouse Pallets are available but Custom Handling Unit types can be added as required.
Rule: Handling Unit Types must have an Invoice Item set against them to charge on the Customer Rate Schedule. Handling unit Types Without an invoice item will not be visible on Customer Rate Cards.
Note: Where weights are set against Handling Unit Types they will be added to Product Weights, including when creating Ex WH Consignments
Enabling Handling Unit Types
Customers > Main > Customers > Customer Record > WMS – Units of Measure > Handling Units
Handling Units will need to be enabled for a Customer before they can be recorded against incoming goods. Select the Customer Unit that would have Handling Units applied them e.g. Pallet, and enable any handling unit type that is applicable to that customer unit. Setting a default will see that unit automatically selected for all incoming goods for that unit, but with the ability to be changed to any of the enabled units.
When a Put docket is created for this customer with the Handling Unit of Measure set to Pallet the above unit types will be available for selection against the incoming License Plates on the allocations screen.
Handling Unit Types on Dockets
Allocations Screen
When products are added to a Docket with a Handling Unit of Measure that has Handling Unit Types enabled the Handling Type can be selected on the allocations screen.
Consolidation
In cases where multiple License Plates are required for a single Handling Unit (e.g. to record multiple different serial numbers on a single pallet) License Plates can be consolidated to a single Handling Unit Type. This consolidation will apply to Handling, Storage, and Handling Unit charges, e.g. 1 inwards charge, 1 storage charge and 1 handling unit charge where the rates are set up applicably.
Docket Items split out to record different serial numbers – this is physically 5 cartons sitting on a single pallet
Select Consolidate to Consolidate to a single Handling Unit, then select the Handling Unit type to Consolidate to
The Products have now been consolidated to a single Parent License Plate
Rates
A charge can be applied per Handling Unit per week. These charges are applied using Peak of the week. E.g. every Handling Unit seen within the Warehouse during a week attracts a charge, despite whether the Handling Unit still remains within the Warehouse. A handling Unit that enters and leaves the Warehouse on the same day would still attract a charge.
Set the rate per Handling Unit on the Customer Rate Schedule in the Handling Unit Charges Section
These charges will appear on the invoice against the Invoice Item set up for the unit in Tools> System Setup
The Handling Unit Charges are added to the Customer Charge Summary Report
Adjustments
Handling Units can be adjusted in the Adjustment Screen, however must be enabled for the Customer to do so.
