Consignment Delivery Splits

v19.12, JF-549

Overview

This task follows on from functionality introduced under task JF-581 (Splitting a Consignment for multiple Pickups), whereby the delivery leg of a consignment can be split to allow for delivery over multiple vehicles. While pickup splits required splitting the consignment FIRST, and then creating separate pickups, this task allows for the delivery leg of the consignment to be split directly (and creating the subsequent deliveries available for allocating) from the allocations screen, or the open consignment form.

When a delivery split is created, the original consignment (referred to as the 'Parent') will keep the existing consignment number. A delivery split created (referred to as the 'Child') will be created with the same consignment number with a suffix of DSA for the first, DSB for the second and so on.

Setup PUP/DEL Split Functionality in JAIX Admin:

JAIX Admin > System > Main (Entity List) > (Select Entity) > General Freight and Linehaul Management

To be able to create pickup and delivery splits, the 'PUP/DEL Splits' flag needs to be on in JAIX Admin. Please contact JAIX service desk to have the functionality activated (or deactivated if not required).

Splitting the Consignment from the Allocations Screen:

JAIX Freight > Distribution > Despatch (Allocations)

As the aim of this task is to assist local allocators in the delivery of a consignment, the simplest process for carrying out the delivery split is directly from the allocations screen. Right-mouse click on the delivery leg shown on the Despatch view of the allocations screen. This will bring up a menu, select 'Split for Delivery'.

This will open the 'Add Delivery Split' window, which works in the same way as creating a split for pickup. This window lists all of the detail lines that are contained on the consignment, allowing for specific detail lines to be split amongst the delivery splits. Click to highlight the desired detail line, and click 'Select' to begin (shown below);

Once a detail line has been highlighted and 'Selected' for splitting, it will show in the 'Split Detail Lines' area to allow for the quantity and amounts to be set for the split.

In this particular example, the allocator would like to split the delivery into two with two pallets of apples each (for the parent and the child). The user has TABBED across (or clicked in) to the Quantity field and entered the amount of 2. The same is done in the Pallet Space field. The system will deduct these amounts from the original detail line of the parent, as well as calculating the weight and cube of the child based of the quantities being split. The user can manually adjust if required. Once satisfied with the child, select 'Create', to complete the Split creation process.

The remaining quantities cannot be less than ZERO when creating a split.

This will return the user to the allocations screen, whereby the new split will show ready to be allocated individually. Continuing with the example, the allocations screen now shows delivery SC844 and SC844DSA, with 2 pallet spaces on each.

Splitting the Consignment from the Open Consignment:

JAIX Freight > Freight > Consignments (Search & List) > (Open Consignment) > Operations (Create Splits) > Delivery Split

A split for delivery can also be created from the open consignment itself. Select the 'Create Splits' button along the top ribbon which will open a drop-down menu, and select 'Delivery Split'.

This will open the same 'Add Delivery Split' window as covered earlier in creating a split from the allocations screen. Complete in the same way to create the split. On selecting 'Create', the user will automatically be directed to the child that has been created, with a link to the parent consignment showing in the Track & Trace bar (highlighted below);

Display Changes to the Parent Consignment:

JAIX Freight > Freight > Consignments (Search & List)

Any splits that have been created will show in the consignment search and list screen. The screenshot below shows the original consignments (SC844 and SC845), and the splits that were created (SC844DSA and SC845DSA) as examples in this document.

Opening the parent consignment will now include "Remaining Quantity" columns for the relevant detail lines to reflect the Quantities that are being delivered on this parent consignment. The difference between the original and remaining values would reflect the amount that has been split off to the child split Consignments.

Cancelling a Delivery Split

Splits that have not yet been allocated/completed can be cancelled in the same areas where they were created; directly from the allocations screen, or from the open split consignment form.

When trying to cancel the parent consignment which is linked to a child split, the system will force the user to cancel the splits first, before moving on the cancel the consignment completely.

JAIX Freight > Distribution > Despatch (Allocations)

To cancel a split directly from the allocations screen, right-mouse click on the delivery split to bring up the menu. Select 'Cancel Split' to cancel the split delivery.

This will prompt the user to add a comment outlining the reason for cancelling the split.

On 'Save', the split delivery will disappear from screen, and the parent consignment will automatically revert back to the amounts before the split was created.

JAIX Freight > Freight > Consignments (Search & List)

Open the child consignment form, and select 'Cancel' along the top ribbon. This will cancel the split, and revert the parent consignment back to the amounts before the split was created.

Cancelled Delivery Splits remain stored in Consignment Search & List

JAIX Freight > Freight > Consignments (Search & List)

All cancelled consignments remain stored in the system, and can be viewed in the consignments Search & List screen. Ensure that in 'View', either 'View All' or 'Cancelled' view is selected to see cancelled consignments.
